GOLDEN TRNJULCICA - BREADS AND FLAT CAKES FROM THE COUNTRY ESTATE TRNULJA

When you hear the hollow sound of the freshly-baked bread with a golden crust, you hear the story of the land and of the farmer... of the morning dew, the gentle breeze and the warm embrace of the sun.... of the ripe wheat ears and of the millstone.... and of the skilful hands that have kneaded all of these parts together into delicious home-baked breads and flat cakes from the country estate Trnulja.

Bread
Every bread has its own aroma. At our country estate, it sometimes smells of buckwheat, sometimes of corn or wheat, sometimes even of barley. Truth be told, we prefer to use all of them at the same time! Each bread is made with organic flour. Our grains grow in a sustainable way on the fields of the country estate Trnulja.

Flat cakes
Buckwheat flat cake: made with buckwheat flour, quark and sour cream, this flat cake is also known as Hajdinska fat cake. Although the original recipe comes from the Prekmurje region in the eastern Slovenia, our host Urša has found a way to give it a touch of our marshes...



SWEET TRNULJCICA - ORGANIC PASTRY FROM THE COUNTRY ESTATE TRNULJA

Moist or crisp, sweet or tasting of honey.... made from buckwheat, soybean, hemp or corn flour, as you like it. Plenty of sweet things to choose from. What is common to them all, is that the pastry was baked with creativity and joy, which our hostess Urša invests into their preparation. Come to the country estate Trnulja to indulge your sweet tooth or treat yourself to an organic cooking workshop, where you will learn many small and big secrets of successful baking.

Potica and pies
Oh, that scrumptious rolled cake with yeast-raised dough, filled with walnuts and raisins, tarragon or poppy seeds that has been gracing for centuries the tables of Slovenian homes on special occasions, what is that.... potica, of course! Rest assured, we know how to bake this ''ambassador of Slovenian pastry'' at the country estate Trnulja. We think we are quite good at baking a wide variety of other kinds of cakes and pies, too.

Biscuits: walnut and hemp crescent biscuits
The butter and hemp biscuits simply melt in your mouth. They are at their best without sugar. And do not be afraid to tuck into those divine walnut crescent biscuits - they are baked with defatted walnut cake and do not cause heartburn. Have no fear when such walnut crescents are near!

Cakes
Once you have tasted cakes from the country estate Trnulja, you will wish every day would be your birthday.... We believe the walnut cake called Auntie Štefka's cake deserves a special mention, for it is prepared by our hostess Urša by following a very special recipe from her old aunt.

Marmalades
Sloe berry marmalade At country estate Trnulja we have earned how to add a touch of sweetness and make a really delicious marmalade from the normally rather tart and sour sloe berries.
